The Avia Design Group was formed in 1995 by Grahame Shannon, founder and former CEO of Autoship Systems Inc. which pioneered 3D design programs Autoyacht and Autoship in the 1980s.

For 14 years we have designed sailboats and fuel efficient powerboats, ranging from the Walker Bay 8 dinghy to 100 foot plus luxury motor yachts.

Recently we re-entered the software developments field because we saw a gap between the possibilities offered by the latest technology in computers and NMEA networking and what was available.

Our mission is to replace expensive specialized boat instruments with upgradeable software and efficient low cost hardware. Avia Sail is the first of a series of products which utilize the latest NMEA 2000 technology while allowing the use of existing NMEA 0183 data.
